A five-hour strike called by the Cockpit pilots' trade union at Discover Airlines on Saturday had little impact on passengers, the Lufthansa subsidiary said.

Discover Airlines, which focuses on tourist travel, had arranged an alternative flight schedule to limit the effects of the strike on its passengers.

"As a result of adjustments to the flight schedule and bringing forward or delaying individual flights, no Discover Airlines flights had to be cancelled on account of the strike," the airline said after the strike was over shortly after midday.

Rescheduling at Frankfurt and the transfer of passengers to Lufthansa flights at Munich had been successful, it said.

Cockpit is aiming for the first collective bargaining agreement at the airline.

It called the strike after accusing Discover Airlines of "stalling tactics, by withdrawing concessions previously made and simultaneously setting new conditions for a collective bargaining arrangement."

Cockpit members needed secure conditions, it said.
