There were cheers, tears and the Pineville Elementary School Drumline following Pineville High School seniors Dontrell Allen and Geraldine Milo as they walked Thursday through the halls filled with students at PES.

It was an emotional moment for Milo, but she was happy because she was able to see all the progress she made in her educational journey. She plans to major in business administration and minor in architecture at Louisiana Tech.

“This will forever be my school,” said Allen. “This is where it all started.”

But this won’t be the last time he walks these halls. He wants to return to PES as a teacher.

“I look forward to giving back like the teachers gave back to me,” he said.

He wants to continue the legacy of his cousin, the late LaTonya Allen Chambers, who was a fourth-grade teacher. As a teacher, she made a big impact on her students, and he wants to do the same.

He will attend Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, where he plans to major in early childhood education.

Other PHS Grad walks will be May 11 at Pineville Junior High and Ruby Wise Elementary School.

Pineville High School commencement ceremony will be at 7 p.m. May 12 at the Rapides Parish Coliseum.
