Pineville man dies in shooting late Tuesday in Alexandria, police say

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating multiple incidents of gun violence that happened over the holiday weekend, including one death on New Year's Eve.

A Pineville man died in a shooting late Tuesday, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

The department got a call about 11:50 p.m. about a red Toyota sedan that went off the road into some woods in the 4600 block of Futrell Street in Alexandria, the department said in a news release.

Futrell Street is between Tulane Avenue and Hudson Boulevard.

Officers found the car near the woods and, near it, 18-year-old Kevin Hammond Jr., who had been shot multiple times, police said. The car also had been hit by bullets.
