Pink mansion with an old world vibe lists in Atlanta. But it’s newer than it seems
Dusted an old world shade of ashes-of-roses, a home in one Atlanta neighborhood stands out in a wave of iridescent imagination from an artist’s perspective, its exterior looking like the architectural equivalent of an Antonín Dvorak symphony.
And it’s listed for $2.3 million.
It’s named “The Pink House” — with obvious reasoning, of course — and has the build of a Spanish home plucked straight out of the roaring 1920s. Only it was built 33 years ago, and it just recently hit the market for the very first time.
“With a lot of houses, you can kind of put a date stamp on it by looking at it,” listing agent Harvin Greene explained to Realtor.com. “This house was built in 1990, but it feels like it was built in the 1920s, which is really the most popular era of homes in Atlanta.”
The five-bedroom, four-bathroom home was actually inspired by 17th Century Europe with some Cape Dutch style tossed in, the listing on Realtor notes, and was built by architect John Calhoun.
Features of the residence include:
200-year-old beams
A 400-year-old Portuguese arch
Terrace
Beamed ceilings
Entrance foyer
Sauna
Hardwood floors
Insulated windows
The 4,540-square-foot mansion also bursts with bright reds, violent blues and cucumber greens throughout the interior.
“It’s pink, so it stands out from everything else; and it also has color inside, which is not typically what we see right now,” Greene said to Realtor. “So everywhere you look, it’s kind of (a) feast for your eyes.”
The listing is held by Dorsey Alston Realtors.
