Pinkham shines as East Catholic girls lacrosse routs Windsor

May 2—After opening its season with seven road games, the East Catholic High girls lacrosse team played for the first time on its home field Tuesday.

For junior Marissa Pinkham and the Eagles, it was sweet.

Pinkham had seven goals as the Eagles rolled past Windsor 19-1 in a CCC interdivisional contest in Manchester.

Bree Upton added three goals and two assists while Nadine Abunsara had a hat trick for East Catholic (3-5). Nicole Semple contributed a goal and four assists. Caroline Cavanaugh, Sam Paolino, Ashley Zanelli, Prisha Thomas, and Julia Paolino scored a goal each while Kylie Branon had two assists.

Goalies McKayla Orvis, Bubby Zotta, and Kelsey Kowal combined for nine saves in the Eagles' net.

Christina Smith scored for Windsor (0-7).

East Catholic entertains Berlin Friday. Windsor is home to take on E.O. Smith Thursday.

SOUTH WINDSOR 12, HALL 7. In West Hartford, Hailey Deptula's hat trick paced South Windsor to the CCC North win.

Tori Jarvis, Kaitlyn Bullock, and Arden Sansom added two goals each for the Bobcats (3-4). Callia Spika, Elise Suffish, and Mady Syme each scored once with Syme chipping in three assists. Catherine Downes-made five saves in goal.

Lucy Gwiazdoski had three goals for Hall (3-8).

South Windsor starts a stretch of five straight home games Friday when it entertains Farmington.

GRANBY 10, ELLINGTON 9. In Ellington, Alyssa Mackowski scored five goals and Granby held the host Knights to one second-half goal in an NCCC win.

The Bears (9-2) trailed 8-6 at the half before bouncing back. Kenzie Boyd added two goals while goalie Alexis DiMeo made seven saves.

Kaitlyn Boone scored four goals for Ellington Hannah Kozik and Katie Hurlburt added two goals each while Cecilia Nelson scored once. Nora Miller had 10 saves in the Knights' net.

Ellington hosts Canton Thursday.

SUFFIELD 16, ROCKVILLE 4. In Suffield, Ari Nikolis scored seven goals in the host Wildcats' NCCC victory.

Lily Lockard added two goals and two assists for Suffield (5-3). Rockville (1-9) received two goals from Olivia Mistretta and one each from Molly Wilson and Lauren Poulin. Caitlin Chatterton had an assists while Mandi Rivard played well in goal.

The Rams are at Somers Thursday. The Wildcats visit Granby the same day.

Boys

CANTON 12, SOMERS 8. In Somers, Mason Buckley and Ryan Weller recorded hat tricks as Canton (6-3) made it five straight wins in NCCC action.

Andrew Cardwell had three goals for the Spartans (3-7). Tait Gaudet and Robby Martin scored two goals each while Liam Grondin had a single goal. Goalie Evan Poulin made 12 saves.

Somers is at Bacon Academy on Friday.
