Pinning ceremony held for summer nursing graduates at Harford Community College

Sep. 22—Harford Community College held a pinning ceremony for its summer 2022 associate degree nursing graduates on August 19 in the Chesapeake Center in Bel Air.

The event was hosted by the college's Division of Nursing and Allied Health Professions with Tony Wohlers, interim dean; Dale Spielman, director for nursing education; along with faculty and staff.

Full-time nursing faculty member Natasha Lawson led the graduates and all registered nurses in the audience as they recited the International Council of Nurses' Pledge.

Congratulatory remarks were offered by Harford Community College President Theresa B. Felder, Vice President for Academic Affairs Timothy Sherwood and Vice President for Student Success Jacqueline Jackson. Full-time nursing faculty Alicia Gainey and Deanna Garza presented the pins; Faith Andrews and Laura Schenk handed lamps to the graduates. Full-time nursing faculty member Sonia Galvan read the names of the graduates. Gabrielle Spalt was the graduating class speaker.

Members of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and the Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honor Society wore special cords to designate their membership. Several students received recognition awards: Cristina Romero received the Maryland Nursing Association District 7 Leadership Award; Kathryn Wysong received the Spalding Science of Nursing Award; and Amanda Broyles received the Spalding Art of Nursing Award.

The graduating class included Chava Ashby-Houston, Barbara Bowles, Kay C. Britton, Amanda Broyles, Rebecca Cochran, Elizabeth Driver, Kabira Evans, Julia Frank, Jeinny Garcia, Stefanie Gunter, Cierra Jenkins, Laura Marie, Kaylah Johnson, Jesse Kolb-Beebe, Bethany Lane, Samantha Marlow, Heather Marsalek, Leigh Merk, Paige Naumann, Cherie Ndungu, Lilian Barongo Ogendo, Cristina Marie Romero, Aliza Schultz, John Seidts, Gabrielle Spalt, Jacklyn Stein, Jessica Stone, Jeppi Noah Suber, Daijah A. Taylor, Beatrice Waweru, Kathryn Wysong, and Chelsea Yingling.
