Pioneer meals see increase for 2022-23 school year

Jul. 6—The Pioneer Regional School Corporation school board voted to increase the cost of meals by 30 cents for the 2022-23 school year at Tuesday night's school board meeting.

School lunches will increase to $2.70 and breakfast will now cost $1.70.

The rate increase comes as the federal waiver for free school lunches comes to an end.

Reduced prices are available and applications can be downloaded at https://www.pioneer.k12.in.us/page/food-services.

The school encourages applicants to submit their information before the start of the school year, August 10, 2022, to avoid unpaid meal charges.

Reduced lunches cost 40 cents and breakfast is 30 cents.

Shanna Flora, the school's food service director, said prices would have likely increased at least 10 cents a year during the two years of free meals.
