Piscataway police targeting speeders on these township roads

PISCATAWAY – The police department has kicked off a campaign to cut down speeding on streets with 25 mph speed limits.

The Piscataway Promotes Safe Streets campaign by the department's Traffic Safety Division includes infrastructure improvements, public education, community engagement and enhanced enforcement efforts.

The goal of the campaign, which began in February, is to promote safety by reducing collisions on residential roads.

Enhanced speed enforcement has already been carried out by officers on Brotherhood, School and West 4th streets and Mountain and Park avenues, police said.

Buckingham Drive, Custer, Kossuth and Walnut streets and Plainfield Avenue also will be targeted for speed enforcement.

New pole-mounted radar signs were installed on Kossuth and Walnut Streets and Plainfield Avenue in Piscataway.

The signs will be moved throughout the township, police said.

The campaign also includes educational seminars and free lawn signs for residents to post.

The enhanced enforcement efforts will be in addition to routine patrols by officers.
