Pisgah, Tuscola place seven golfers on all-conference team

May 6—Three Pisgah golfers and four Tuscola golfers were selected as all-conference players by the Mountain 7 3A Conference.

Selections were announced after the conference championship at Mill Creek Country Country Club in Franklin on April 21.

The top 12 golfers are chosen as all-conference selections.

Selections are based on performance at the conference finals.

Pisgah, which won the conference championship, dominated the season with first place finishes at every meet this season.

Based on the success, head coach Bentley Rogers was named Mountain 7 3A Coach of the Year.

Pisgah placed three golfers on the all-conference team, as well: junior Eric Loftis and seniors Brayden West and Evan Loftis.

Eric Loftis shot a 73, 83 and 70 in the three round conference tournament for a total score of 226, the top score of the tournament.

For his performance, he was was also honored as Mountain 7 3A Conference Player of the Year.

"Eric has never had a true private lesson, he's learned it all by himself," said Pisgah head coach Bentley Rogers. "We got some schools we're going to reach out to to prepare for his future. He's played exceptionally well."

West, who signed to play collegiate golf a Mars Hill University, shot a 77, 81 and 81 for a total score of 239, good for third place in the tournament.

"His work ethic has really paid off for him," Rogers said.

Evan Loftis, who recently signed to play at the University of Virginia's College at Wise next season, shot an 82, 90 and 73 for a total score of 245, good for fifth place in the tournament.

The Tuscola Mountaineers, meanwhile, placed four golfers on the all-conference team: Sam Decker, Jacob Edwards, Collin Decker, and Aiden Campbell.

The four selections were the most of any team in the conference.

Sam Decker shot an 83, 80 an 81 for a tournament total of 244, which placed fourth overall.

Edwards shot an 85, 86 and 80 for a total score of 251, good for eighth place.

Collin Decker and Campbell both tied for 12th place overall. C

ollin Decker shot an 89, 85 and 92 for a total score of 266, while Campbell shot a 96, 84 and 86 for a tournament score of 266.

"That just shows the depth and it shows how we're going to run our program," said Tuscola head coach Austin Sluder.

"We're going to be competitive, we're going to compete from top to bottom. I can put five kids out there on any given day and we can challenge for number one. Having four kids all conference, the community can be very proud of that."
