Phillies at Diamondbacks

Pitchers: Diamondbacks LHP Tommy Henry (3-2, 3.25) vs. Phillies LHP Bailey Falter (2-3, 4.41).

TV/Radio: Bally Sports Arizona/KMVP-FM (98.7), KHOV-FM (105.1).

Henry was not at his best in Chicago on Friday but managed to hold the White Sox to just one run in five innings. He benefitted from a number of terrific defensive plays behind him, including a trio of catches by CF Alek Thomas and RF Daulton Varsho. … Henry has made five starts for the Diamondbacks, working at least five innings in each of them. He has given up just one run in three of those outings. … Henry’s curveball has induced an impressive 37.9 percent whiff rate and his change-up is at 33.3 percent. … Falter gave up three runs in six innings, notching his third consecutive quality start, all of which came in games the Phillies won. … His fastball sits in the 91-92 mph range. His slider gets a fair amount of swings and misses (30.7 percent whiff rate) but also is responsible for a lot of damage against him (.333 average, .595 slugging). … He has pitched against the Diamondbacks twice in his career, both times in relief last season. C Carson Kelly homered off him.

Phillies at Diamondbacks

Pitchers: Diamondbacks RHP Zac Gallen (9-2, 2.66) vs. Phillies RHP Aaron Nola (9-10, 3.08).

TV/Radio: Bally Sports Arizona/KMVP-FM (98.7), KHOV-FM (105.1).

Gallen went six scoreless against the Royals last time out. He hasn’t allowed a run over his last four outings, a stretch of 27 1/3 innings. In that span, he’s struck out 32 and walked just six. The last time he allowed a run was back on Aug. 2 in Cleveland. … He’s made two career starts against the Brewers, allowing three runs in 10 innings. … Nola dominated the Reds in his last start. He struck out 11 and allowed just five hits in his first complete game shutout of the year. … The effort brought his ERA to 2.12 over his last five starts. … In three career outings against the Diamondbacks, Nola has struggled, allowing 11 runs in 16 1/3 innings. … Nola uses a five-pitch mix that includes a four-seamer, curveball, sinker, change-up and cutter. The four-seamer, curveball and sinker have all been among the most effective in baseball this season.

Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies entered play Sunday 17 games over .500 and in position to claim the second wild-card spot in the National League. They have been playing especially well in recent weeks, winning 22 of 30 games since July 27. On Friday, they got OF/DH Bryce Harper back from the injured list after a two-month absence due to a fractured left thumb. He is hitting .319/.389/.593 with 15 homers in 248 at-bats. LF Kyle Schwarber is having another big season in the power department, leading the National League with 35 homers. C J.T. Realmuto is having perhaps the best run of his Phillies career, hitting .325 with a .997 OPS over his past 44 games. RHP Zack Wheeler, one of their top starters, landed on the injured list this week with right forearm tendinitis. He will miss this series but is not expected to miss more than a couple of weeks. RHP Aaron Nola leads the majors with 1.2 walks per nine innings. The Phillies bolstered their pitching staff at the trade deadline, adding RHP Noah Syndergaard to the rotation and RHP David Robertson to the bullpen.
