Pitt forward Nate Santos enters transfer portal

Pitt forward Nate Santos has officially entered the transfer portal, according to Verbal Commits. The 6-foot-7 sophomore becomes the second Panther to enter the portal, following forward John Hugley’s announcement the morning of Pitt’s First Four matchup against Mississippi State in Dayton.

Santos played in 29 games for head coach Jeff Capel this past season, averaging 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds in over seven minutes of action. He started six of the 25 games he appeared in during the 2021-22 campaign, averaging nearly 13 minutes per appearance, before seeing a decreased role during Pitt’s breakthrough season. A 20% career three-point shooter, the Geneva, Illinois native owns 116 career points, 83 rebounds, and 17 steals in a Pitt uniform.

The Panthers have not added in any transfers for the upcoming season, owning three available scholarships prior to Santos’ announcement. Pitt is looking to fill the roles of five departing seniors including starters Nelly Cummings, Jamarius Burton, and Greg Elliott plus ACC Sixth Man of the Year Nike Sibande.
