Pitt State Hosts Pro Day with NFL Scouts in Attendance

PITTSBURG, Ks — As Draft Day closes in, a few Gorillas hit the field for Pro Day to showcase their skills in front of NFL scouts.

Six Gorillas hit the field to go through work like; bench press, 40-yard dash, vertical jump, broad jump, 3-cone drill.

After that testing portion finished up, they went through drills in regards to their respective positions.

The Gorillas that participated today was; TE Devon Garrison, TE Steele Roring, CB Rico Payton, CB Armon Bean, LB Dubem Okonkwo, RB Antwan Squire.

There were scouts from 8 NFL teams that were in attendance. Chiefs, Colts, Jaguars, 49ers, Packers, Vikings, Patriots and Falcons were among the 8.

We caught up with the players afterwards to ask how it felt to be out there showcasing their talents.

Devon Garrison said, “Devon Garrison said, “Felt good. Put a lot of work in. Growing up, throwing the ball around, getting better each and every day. And it’s kind of all led up to this really getting out to showcase my talents, my abilities, what I can do, what I can bring to an NFL team and feel like I put on a good show today”.

Rico Payton said, “I felt really good. I had a great day. It was good to show off my talents and my skills and then just, put all the work together. We’ve been out here training for six, seven, eight weeks, so it’s nice to finally be done with it, to get out the way”.

Steele Roring said, “It felt really good. It was good to get out here and be with the guys. I think it was helpful to have so many Pitt State guys here and you know, all of which I’m close to. So it’s it’s good to be with them”.

Armon Bean said, “And exciting was a great opportunity. You know, God definitely blessed me to be here, just excited to get out here and give my best shot”.

Dubem Okonkwo said, “It felt amazing. Just, you know, get an opportunity to showcase and have an opportunity to play at the highest level of football. It’s an amazing opportunity and I took all advantage of it”.

Antwan Squire said, “Felt good actually man. I mean, I spent 8 to 9 weeks training on this specific Day. It just felt good knowing that it all paid off and watching everything come together. It was truly a blessing to come out here and showcase what I can do”.

The NFL Draft it scheduled to run from Thursday April 25th through Saturday April 27th.
