On Thursday, Zubik asked for people to pray for the pope and reminded the public to remember others who may be suffering from similar health issues.

“As our Holy Father Pope Francis undergoes hospital treatment for a respiratory infection, I ask your prayers for his swift and full restoration to health. He would certainly ask us to also pray for those without his access to health care – for the homeless, the migrants, people who lack insurance or live far from clinics,” said Zubik.

The bishop also released a prayer for Pope Francis that read:

“God Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: We thank you for your gift of Pope Francis to the Church and the world. We ask that you strengthen him in body and spirit, guide his physicians and grant him rest and recovery. And, as we pray for him, we ask you also to bring healing to all those who are in need of your help. Amen.”

Pope Francis has been improving since he was sent to the hospital.
