Pittsburgh Film Office expanding workforce programs

Pittsburgh Film Office is expanding its workforce program.

The change promises to help people break into creative industries.

State and local officials, including Lt. Gov. Austin Davis, were on hand as the office detailed new classes under its “Create PA” banner.

They expect Hollywood to expand its footprint in Pittsburgh.

“In southwestern Pennsylvania, the film industry has seen over $2.5 billion in new money into this region’s economy,” said Dawn Keezer, director. “We average $150 million a year.”

New classes include carpentry, set decorating, props and accounting. Several film projects are lined up for the region soon.
