Pittsburgh’s 2023 St. Patrick’s Day Parade and celebrations: What to know before you go

Preparations are underway for the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade taking place downtown Saturday. City officials say Pittsburgh Public Safety and local law enforcement partners will be on hand to ensure a safe event.

The parade starts — rain or shine — on Liberty Avenue and 11th Street at 10 a.m., proceeds to Grant Street, the Boulevard of the Allies, and ends at Stanwix Street. It is 1.4 miles long.

As many as 200,000 to 350,000 spectators are expected to line the parade route to watch more than 200 marching units, bands and floats.

After the parade, large groups are expected at the South Side and North Shore entertainment districts. Free parking can be found at the Second Avenue Parking Plaza.

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police will have extra officers in these areas and Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire will staff teams on E. Carson and surrounding areas. Pittsburgh EMS will also have extra personnel in the city.

Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department deputies will provide assistance and the Allegheny County Health Department will conduct compliance checks at bars and restaurants.
