Pittsburgh Steelers sign kicker Matthew Wright from Kansas City Chiefs

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed kicker Matthew Wright from the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad.

The Steelers say Wright has kicked in 19 games and hit 28 of his 32 field goal attempts and 28 out of his 30 extra point attempts.

Wright has a career-long-59-yard-long field goal. He earned that high in the Chiefs’ Week 5 game against the Raiders.

This is not Wright’s first run-in first time playing with the Steelers. He was originally signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2019 but was released before the start of the season and later played in the XFL. The Steelers say Wright also played in their practice squad in 2020 where he made all four of his four field goal attempts.

He made a 56-yard field goal with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021.
