Pittsford senior and multi-sport athlete Kaleb Spahr will be joining his senior teammate, Xavier Hodos, at Olivet College this fall. The senior will look to play for Olivet’s baseball team. The senior committed to the program this spring.

Spahr joins his older siblings, Emma and Ethan Spahr, in their collegiate careers. Spahr originally had Trine University as one of his top college options due to his brother Ethan, who runs track for the Thunder. Emma Spahr attends Illinois Tech.

For Kaleb, the decision to play collegiate athletics played a large part in deciding to continue his academic career. “It was one the big decisions that decided if I wanted to attend college,” said Spahr. “Once my teammate, Xavier decided to go to Olivet, that influenced my decision to go there. I really liked the coaches and the program.”

Spahr hopes to continue his athletic career in his academic pursuits as well. He will look to study exercise science at Olivet College.

Spahr credited both of his parents, Chad and Sue Spahr, for helping push him to continue his baseball career and encouraging his travel ball participation. Spahr thanked his mom for helping him get to all his games through the years.

One of his favorite memories when playing for Pittsford was taking on Camden-Frontier every season. Spahr took on the rival school in several sports. Spahr also participated in football, track and basketball for the Wildcats.

Kaleb Spahr earned all-conference accolades and all-district accolades for this baseball season. Kaleb Spahr earned conference accolades and a spot on the Hillsdale Daily News dream team as an honorable mention member during this past basketball season. Spahr was also first team all-conference and MHSFCA All-Region for football this past fall. He was a first team All-Area Dream Team selection for defense. Spahr competed in the track state finals this season, winning a regional championship in pole vault.

Spahr threw a no-hitter this season as a pitcher for the Wildcats and led the team in strikeouts this season. He is a two-time district champion in baseball and a district champion in basketball. His football, basketball and track coach was Mike Burger. Kyle Brown was his baseball coach. Kaleb’s younger brother, Kade Spahr, competes in the same sports for the Wildcats and will be a senior next fall.

Olivet College is a private Christian college located in Olivet, Michigan. Olivet College is affiliated with the United Church of Christ. Olivet offers more than 30 academic programs and a master’s degree in Business Administration in Insurance. The Olivet College Comets compete in the NCAA Division III and are aligned with the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The baseball program is run by Shelby Dixon, who is in his third season as head baseball coach.
