Pittsford wins 21st straight title: Section V girls swimming championship highlights
Erin DeHollander was proud to reclaim the Section V Class A 200-yard freestyle relay title for Victor-Bloomfield.
DeHollander, a senior, was a part of four winning events during the Section V Class A championships, most notably joining Meredith Hogan, Mandy Miller and Eileen Kopp to win the 200 free relay (1:39.37) for Victor-Bloomfield for the fourth consecutive season Saturday at the Webster Aquatic Center.
DeHollander has swam the 200 free relay since 2020. This year's race was far from easy, as Victor-Bloomfield edged runner-up Fairport by 0.31 seconds. DeHollander said it was redemption after Fairport touched first in a dual meet earlier this season.
On Saturday, DeHollander also won 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.93) for the third year in a row, and the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.70) back-to-back seasons. DeHollander even swam a leg on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay (3:33.34).
Not a bad encore for DeHollander, who last year was Swimmer of the Meet after breaking the meet's 100 breast record, and championed the 200-yard individual medley.
"We knew the relays would be pretty close, especially the 200 free relay," said DeHollander, who will swim at Cornell University next year. "That's why I like relays, it's me swimming for my team. It makes it a lot more meaningful."
