GREEN BAY - An in-home urgent care provider will soon start making visits to Green Bay and Appleton-area homes.

Pivotal Health, which currently provides services in Madison and Milwaukee, is partnering with Prevea Health to expand its care to northeastern Wisconsin. Patients will be able to make an appointment online for a doctor to come to their home, instead of driving to an urgent care or emergency department.

"At Prevea, we believe high-quality health care should be accessible as close to home as possible," said Prevea Health president and CEO Dr. Ashok Rai in a news release.

People can make appointments for acute illnesses such as ear and eye infections, wound care, rashes or insect bites, common respiratory or viral infections, or minor injuries that require an x-ray. Pivotal providers also conduct physical exams and advanced cancer screenings. Patients can also schedule an appointment to evaluate their mental health needs.

"This is the epitome of convenience because the patient picks the time they want us to come," said Pivotal Health CEO Sal Braico. "There is no waiting room."

Pivotal Health was formed in 2020 to provide "health care delivery" to people inside their homes instead of driving to an urgent care or emergency department. Since it started making house calls in 2021, Pivotal Health has made over 8,000 visits, Braico said.

When someone makes an appointment, the costs are listed so patients know what to expect before the visit. Most major insurance companies cover Pivotal Health house calls, including Prevea360, Network Health, WPS, UnitedHealthcare, BlueCross BlueShield, Humana, Cigna, Aetna, and The Alliance, according to Pivotal's website.

Making the cost of a medical visit clear and meeting patients at their own time and place makes it more likely for people to get care, Braico said.

"Health care is so confusing and it's so difficult to navigate," Braico said. "Our main mission is to make healthcare easier."

Pivotal Health will work closely with Prevea to set up additional appointments or get referrals to see a specialist. With a close partnership with the Green Bay-based health system, Pivotal Health hopes to reduce more barriers to treatment.

"We want to make sure there's continuity of healthcare," Braico said.
