Pixar wasn't kidding when it said it wasn't going to focus on sequels for a while after Toy Story 4, as the company has just announced a second original film coming in 2020.

The computer animation giant has just announced the new movie Soul, which will be directed by Pete Docter, who previously helmed the studio's offerings Up, Inside Out and Monsters, Inc.

The movie will come out a year today, June 19, and asks the question: "What is it that makes you... YOU?"

Apparently, the movie will take place on both the streets of New York City and the cosmic realms. It looks like it's going to be another high-concept affair, and we can't wait.

Coming earlier next year from Pixar is the movie Onward, directed by Monsters University helmer Dan Scanlon. That film will focus on two brothers in a suburban world populated by mythical creatures and is based on Scanlon's real life (minus the mythical creatures bit, we think).

Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Tom Holland and Chris Pratt will reunite after Avengers: Endgame to voice the brothers.

Onward is due for release on March 6, 2020.

Before all of that, though, we've got the aforementioned Toy Story 4 to look forward to.

It's out this Friday (June 21) and you can read our review of it right here.
