Pizza Hut launches ‘Goodbye Pies’ for people looking to end relationships ahead of Valentine’s Day

Breakups suck, but Pizza Hut wants to soften the blow with its new Hot Honey pizza.

The pizza chain launched its “Goodbye Pies” promotion Tuesday, which allows customers to send a free hot honey pie to their ex-lover instead of having an awkward breakup conversation.

The campaign is centered around the company’s newest menu items, which include hot honey pizza and wings.

Consumers can visit the Goodbye Pies website until Valentine’s Day to send someone a free pizza. The pizza will be delivered in a custom package with a personalized, simple breakup message.

The offer is valid to New York, Chicago and Miami customers, but consumers outside of those cities can still visit the website to request a breakup message and a gift card for a hot honey pizza to be sent to their ex while supplies last, a news release said.

While Valentine’s is considered to be the most romantic day of the year, Pizza Hut cited a study from YouGov.com that states that 45% of people believe it’s best to end relationships before Feb. 14.

For those who don’t need to send a “Goodbye Pie” but still want to try the new menu items, the hot honey pizza and wings will be available at participating locations nationwide.
