Pizza, marinara, carbonara: Here are 5 Italian restaurants to check out in Volusia County
DAYTONA BEACH — Whether you are looking for something as simple as a pizza or a calzone, or a more sophisticated pasta dish, the many Italian restaurants in Volusia County won’t fail you.From New Smyrna Beach to Ormond Beach, here are five restaurants for locals and visitors alike:
1. Fratelli’s Pizzeria
This pizzeria at 2328 S. Atlantic Ave. in Daytona Beach Shores may be small in size, but the variety of pizza flavors is anything but. Customers can choose from the usual cheese and pepperoni, to lesser-known ones like the Capricciosa (with anchovies, ham, mushrooms) and the Napoletana (with artichoke hearts and sun-dried tomatoes).
The restaurant is opens daily at 11 a.m., except for Tuesdays.

2. Frappes Italian Grill
This iconic spot at 123 W. Granada Blvd. in Ormond Beach has been around for over two decades.
Their lunch and dinner are different, but with just as many options. Guests can order Bobby’s Famous Meatballs and penne ala vodka during lunchtime, or a charcuterie board and a wild shrimp carbonara for dinner.
The restaurant is open for lunch Tuesday-Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and for dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. only on Friday), and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
3. Don Giovanni Contemporary Italian and Pizzeria
The new Don Giovanni Contemporary Italian and Pizzeria at 1633 Taylor Road Suite 5 in Port Orange brings a variety of Italian dishes that its owner, Giovanni Spinosa, brought from his home country.
Customers can order appetizers like calamari fritti and bruschetta; pizzas like margherita, Genovese and Sicilian; and pasta dishes like spaghetti alla pescatora, Penne alla Norma, fettucine alla bolognese, and others.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.Monday-Saturday
4. Dalmare Italian Chophouse
Dalmare Italian Chophouse is also a new addition to the Italian food scene in Volusia County at 814 S. Atlantic Ave. in Ormond Beach.
Dalmare’s menu offers a few different combinations of Italian dishes with seafood like the Coastal Clam Linguine and the lobster spaghetti. Hand-cut meats on the menu are a house specialty, such as the double bone-in pork chop and the 10-ounce dry aged sirloin.
The restaurant is open from 4 to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 4 to 11 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
5. The Garlic
Besides one of the most well-known Italian restaurants in the county, The Garlic is a staple of New Smyrna Beach at 556 E. Third Ave.
Customers can start with herbed Sicilian lamb and garlic mussels as appetizers, then move on to a prosciutto and pea tortellini or a linguine puttanesca for dinner. The menu also offers a filet mignon, pork osso buco and other dishes.
The restaurant is open from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
