Owners teased Sunday on Facebook that the long-awaited oyster bar and restaurant Bay House, 6 Sassafras Pier, was "coming soon." It will occupy the bottom two stories of the same building that holds up Pier 6, which opened last summer on the roof. The two are the latest additions to the U Pick 6 family of eateries owned by John Melody and Russell Stachewicz. They didn't include an opening date, but when I know, you'll know.

Bro-Man's Sammiches, a food truck owned by Stephen Stanbro, who is working on opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant on upper Peach Street, posted on Facebook that he's now carrying vegan cheese. This might not seem like a big deal to regular people, but to an increasing number of folks who can't stomach dairy, it's a big, fat hairy deal. It's not very often dietary restrictions and food trucks go together very well. Go, Bro!

Crick Coffee House, 236 W. Main St. in Girard, will be closed from Dec. 22 to Jan. 3, according to a Facebook post. So regulars, plan accordingly. In the meantime, though, they have a delectable sounding winter menu featuring Mandarin chicken salad with a fresh mix of salad greens, grilled chicken, red onion, craisins, croutons, mandarin oranges, candied pecans, sunflower seeds and cheddar cheese, that is served with a side of homemade orange Dijon vinaigrette. Let it snow. Let it snow. Let it snow.

Icing on the Lake, 904 West Erie Plaza, is making a few changes in the new year, according to a Facebook post that went up Sunday. One of them is that they will no longer offer custom cakes, effective in January. They plan to have more variety of pre-made cakes available, including sizes, styles and flavors, as well as long-time favorites. Don't panic if you have an order in place. All existing orders will be honored.

Venango General Store, 21747 Cussewago St., Venango, (which is actually a restaurant) will be hosting its annual dinner theater performance of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" on Dec. 18. Seating is at 5:30 p.m., and the show starts at 6:30 p.m. It's $40 per person and includes, besides the show, soup, salad, roast beef, smoked turkey, braised root vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and desserts from D&J Bakery in Cambridge Springs. Call 814-422-5323 for reservations. Visit facebook.com/VenangoGeneralStore for information.

There's a new craft beer in town, and it's, well, gotten around. Umbrella in a Brainstorm was a collaborative effort among Lavery Brewing Co., Erie Brewing Co. Knowledge Park, Arundel Cellars & Brewing Co. & Altered Genius. A saison brewed with all local malt, hops and locally foraged staghorn sumac, which gives a light, refreshing lemon/berry acidity on the finish, it has 6% alcohol by volume.
