A top official in Placer County has come forward as the driver involved in the crash that killed an Inderkum High School basketball player in March. Now the Placer County District Attorney's Office is investigating. Placer County Executive Officer Todd Leopold said in a release on Friday that he, "was the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident that resulted in the death of Anthony Williams on March 19, 2022." The announcement comes after the Rocklin Police Department said the driver was not at fault, and there would be no criminal charges against the driver. Police had not identified the driver who struck Williams despite calls from members of the community, including an activist group working with the teen's family.
