Placer County marine among 5 killed in aircraft crash in SoCal desert

One of the five marines that were killed in an aircraft crash this week in the California desert has been identified as a 33-year-old from Placer County, the Marine Corps said on Friday. Capt. John Sax was among those killed during a flight training exercise on Wednesday. The MV-22 Osprey went down at 12:25 p.m. during training in a remote area in Imperial County near the community of Glamis, about 115 miles east of San Diego and about 50 miles from Yuma, Arizona.
