Plan ahead: These freeways will be closed this weekend in the Valley

The Arizona Department of Transportation released its list of upcoming closures and restrictions slated for Valley highways this weekend as cooler temperatures make their way into metro Phoenix.

Notable closures were scheduled along stretches of Interstate 10 and State Route 143.

ADOT advised drivers to allow for extra time and plan alternate routes. Drivers were asked to be prepared to slow down and merge safely when venturing through work zones.

Eastbound I-10 closed between Loop 303 and Dysart Road in the West Valley

Details: Eastbound I-10 will be closed between Loop 303 and Dysart Road in the West Valley for pavement sealing. Sections of I-10 will reopen as the pavement sealing work progresses on Saturday.

  • North-and-southbound Loop 303 ramps to eastbound I-10 closed

  • Eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Perryville Road and 187th Avenue closed

When: 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30

Alternate Routes: Motorists can exit prior to the closure and take eastbound Van Buren Street or McDowell Road to Dysart Road to reach I-10. Primary detours will be signed, ADOT said.

Eastbound MC 85 is an additional option.

Southbound Loop 303 drivers can exit at Indian School or Thomas roads and take southbound Cotton Lane to eastbound McDowell Road.

Northbound Cotton Lane/Loop 303 traffic can exit to eastbound Van Buren Street in order to travel past the closure.

Eastbound I-10 closed between Verrado Way and Loop 303

Details: Eastbound I-10 will be closed between Verrado Way and Loop 303 for pavement sealing. Sections of I-10 will reopen as the pavement sealing work progresses on Sunday.

When: 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1

Alternate Routes: Eastbound I-10 traffic that exits at Verrado Way will travel south to eastbound Yuma Road and can utilize northbound Cotton Lane to access eastbound I-10 beyond the closure.

Eastbound MC 85 can be used as well.

Southbound SR 143 closed between Loop 202 and I-10

Details: Southbound SR-143 (Hohokam Expressway) will be closed between Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and I-10 for a traffic shift as part of the ongoing I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.

  • Westbound Loop 202 ramp to Sky Harbor Boulevard (airport exit) closed

When: 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 to 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2

Alternate Routes: Westbound Loop 202 to eastbound I-10 (at the SR 51 Mini-Stack) or eastbound Loop 202 to southbound Loop 101 and westbound US 60.

Airport access from Loop 202 is available using southbound 44th Street.

Westbound I-10 ramp to northbound SR 143 closed

Details: The westbound I-10 ramp to northbound SR 143 (Hohokam Expressway) will be closed for traffic shift.

  • Westbound I-10 on-ramp at Broadway Road closed

When: 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 to 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2

Alternate Routes: Sky Harbor Airport traffic can exit westbound I-10 at 24th Street or Buckeye Road.

A detour for the westbound I-10 on-ramp is available at 40th Street.
