Plan commission to consider firearm sales in Superior

Jun. 13—SUPERIOR — Plans to discuss changes to the city's zoning ordinance for the sale of firearms in highway commercial zones will take place sooner than expected.

After the city council referred the proposal back to the plan commission on June 7, the original plan was to hold those discussions next month. However, the plan commission agenda for Wednesday, June 15, will be amended to allow that discussion to take place sooner.

"I will be sending out an amended agenda later today," Stephanie Becken, planning assistant, stated in an email to the Telegram Monday, June 13.

The commission will consider changing the allowable uses in the highway commercial zones or creating a special use permit to allow firearm sales outside of the central business district and manufacturing zones where gun sales are currently allowed.

The plan commission meets at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Room 201 of the Government Center.
