Plane crashes over Florida skies kill 6 people, injure 2 in March
Six people died and three others have been injured since March 5 in Florida after several plane crashes around the state.
The deadliest crash killed four people after two planes collided in mid air over a Winter Haven lake. The crash happened two days after two men — including a newlywed with a baby on the way — were killed in a fiery crash near Lantana.

Deadliest crash kills four over Winter Haven lake
On March 7, four people were killed after two planes collided in mid air over Lake Hartridge in Winter Haven.
The pilot of the Piper J-3 Cub seaplane apparently saw the other plane just seconds before the two planes crashed nose to nose, said Air Safety Investigator Lynn Spencer.
“We also know from preliminary information and review of these videos that the J-3 Cub attempted to dive to the right immediately before the collision,” Spencer said.
The Cherokee carried Faith Irene Baker, 24, of Winter Haven, a pilot and flight instructor with Sunrise Aviation; and Zachary Jean Mace, 19, of Winter Haven, a student at Polk State College.
Louis C. Defazio, 78, a part-time Winter Haven resident from Fredericksburg, Texas, and Randall Elbert Crawford, 67 of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, were aboard the Piper J-3 Cub.

2 killed after fiery crash near Lantana
Two men died March 5 when a small plane crashed and caught fire at Palm Beach County Park Airport near Lantana, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said.
John Holland, 43, of Delray Beach and Michael Marshall Jr., 34 , of Boca Raton died in the crash, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said.

The Federal Aviation Administration said March 6 the plane was a single-engine Diamond DA40 and that it crashed shortly after taking off from the airport.
Pilot injured in Monroe County crash
A small plane crashed near Bahia Honda State Park in Monroe County March 11, about 1:30 p.m., according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Adam Linhardt.
Linhardt told Local 10 News the 75-year-old pilot was injured in the crash and was the only one on board. He was flown to a Miami hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Pilot reported engine problems before crash in North Brevard County
A small single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza crash-landed March 14 in a field near a major roadway in Scottsmoor, injuring the pilot, federal investigators and Brevard County Fire Rescue crews reported.
The incident happened about 10:30 a.m. near Deering Parkway and U.S. 1.

Pilot not injured after biplane crashes in DeLeon Springs
A small plane crashed around 9:20 a.m. March 12 near Chuck Lennon Park in DeLeon Springs, according to a tweet from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
The pilot reported an engine failure and attempted an emergency landing in a field. During landing, a wheel broke off and the plane crashed.
