CENTER TWP. — Beaver County’s Planet Fitness is on the move.

The fitness club at Beaver Valley Mall is slated to reopen about a mile down Brodhead Road in Center Township’s former Staples building.

Franchisees have a target date of late November for the “new and improved” location at 3938 Brodhead Road near Walmart.

“We’re excited to announce the new location will have a new PF Black Card Spa with hybrid tanning, a cryo lounge (recovery lounge) and more,” an alert to club members this week read. “There will also be improved workout spaces to include new functional training and (30-minute) circuit redesign.”

The mall's “judgment-free zone” first opened in late 2013 between the former Sears and Macy’s sites. Center Township’s Staples in the Walmart shopping plaza closed in June due to rising rent at the location and company-wide competition from online retailers and big-box stores.

Planet Fitness gyms offer basic "no-commitment" memberships for as low as $10 per month, and premium “Black Card” memberships for $24.99 per month. Memberships often have associated annual and startup fees. Premium memberships include free fitness training, use of massage chairs and hydromassage beds and other perks.
