Planned Wawa stores in Vineland, Franklinville get target opening dates

A pair of South Jersey Wawa projects that gained initial approval more than two years ago are progressing, with one store set to open as early as this summer.

Plans for the proposed stores — in Franklinville and Vineland — date to late 2019 and early 2020, respectively.

The new Vineland location at West Landis Avenue and South Mill Road is expected to reach the finish line first, according to Wawa spokesperson Alyson Mucha.

"The Vineland store is slated to open in Summer 2022," she said.

It will be Vineland's fifth Wawa.

The new 5,585-square-foot store is being constructed on more than four acres of land just off Exit 32 for Landis Avenue on Route 55.

The project, due to its location, was met with a series of changes before gaining approval by Vineland planners in February 2020. The requests included traffic flow modifications and reduced signage.

Patrons of the former Wawa sandwiched between Delsea Drive and Porchtown Road in the Franklinville section of Franklin Township have a bit of a wait ahead of them for the store's bigger return.

The legacy store, one of Wawa's original designs, was demolished in February to make way for an updated model complete with fueling station.

Mucha said Wawa is hoping to open the new Franklinville store by March 2023.
