Planning Commission permits Baptist Tabernacle to replat two lots

MARTINSVILLE — The Martinsville Plan Commission gathered at city hall Tuesday evening where they oversaw a request made by Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle Inc. to vacate and replat two separate lots in the Robert Martinsdale's First Subdivision.

The church asked the commission for permission to remove lots 1 and 53 from Robert Martindale's First Subdivision in order to replat them with property owned by the church. This property is identified as the Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle Minor Subdivision.

Attorney Rodric Bray presented the request before the commission on the church's behalf.

"These lots are already zoned appropriately and we just want to bring them into the same plat that the Martinsville Baptist tabernacle already owns," Bray said.

The Planning Commission approved the request.

Lot 1 is located at 2139 Burton Lane while Lot 53's address is 659 Virginia Street. Robert Martinsdale's First Subdivision was first platted in 1953.
