Plans to change the exterior space that will house a new restaurant for Larkin's Restaurants at 32 E. Broad St. were approved Thursday by the Greenville Design Review Board Urban Panel.

The plans submitted by Narramore Associates, Inc. include upfitting the space that faces Camperdown Plaza, replacing an existing clear anodized curtain walls with dark masonry and folding glass doors, and creating a new main entrance, per DRB documents.

The design changes intend to set the restaurant space apart from the rest of the building, which is the office space occupied by The Greenville News.

At the DBR meeting, Shea O'Brien, with Narramore Associates noted "time is of the essence," in moving design approval forward.

The Peace Center, which owns the property where Larkin's on the River has been for 17 years, did not renew the restaurant's lease, O'Brien said, and the current lease would end in August.

The Design Review Board will hear plans for changes to the exterior of the building's restaurant space.

Larkin's Restaurants leased the 6,000-square-foot space on the corner of Broad and Falls Street in 2018. The restaurant group, which owns Larkin's on the River, three Grill Marks locations, Limoncello and several private event venues including the L and Larkins at Sawmill, has not yet announced a definitive concept for the space.

The Greenville News has reached out to Larkin's Restaurants for more details. Larkin Hammond, owner of Larkin's Restaurants declined to share more details about the restaurant at this time.
