Plans to bring the city of Milwaukee its first Chick-fil-A are in the works

Chick-fil-A's plans for its first Milwaukee restaurant are moving forward.

While Chick-fil-A restaurants are located across Milwaukee's suburbs, plans to bring the city its first are in the works, based on plans filed with the Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services.

The proposed location is 2701 W. Morgan Avenue, which is the current home of south side staple Zebb's Family Restaurant. Loomis Centre, LLC, out of Northbrook, Illinois, is the owner of the building, according to city assessment records.

According to the submitted plans, the new nearly 5,000-square-foot Chick-fil-A building would have 68 seats inside. The site would also have an outdoor patio with 12 seats, a drive-thru with two lanes, and a parking lot.

"We are always evaluating potential new locations in the hopes of serving existing and new customers great food with remarkable service," Chick-fil-A, Inc. said in an email statement. "We would very much like to have more restaurants in the Milwaukee area, but we have no new locations to confirm at this time."

Prokopios (Peter) Liapis, the owner of Zebb's, said he's unfamiliar with the Chick-fil-A plans, and has no plans to close his restaurant.

"We're just continuing on like normal," Liapis said.

Zebb's, which opened in 1994, is known for its homemade soups, burgers, breakfasts and more.

Chick-fil-A, an Atlanta-based fast food franchise, has locations across the suburbs, including Glendale, West Allis, Greendale, Brookfield, Oak Creek, Menomonee Falls and Pewaukee. A Chick-fil-A stand is also located inside Fiserv Forum. There are more than 2,700 Chick-fil-A restaurants in 47 states, D.C., Puerto Rico and Canada, the company's website said.

Its menu features a variety of chicken sandwiches, as well as nuggets, strips and a wrap; salads; sides including fries, soup and mac and cheese; kid's meals; treats including milkshakes; an array of beverage options; a breakfast menu; and signature sauces.

Most Chick-fil-A locations are open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with breakfast served from 6 to 10:30 a.m., and lunch/dinner served from 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m., the website said.
