Plans for new credit union branch approved for Grand River Avenue in Brighton
BRIGHTON — The City Council on Jan. 19 unanimously approved site plans for a new LOC Credit Union branch on Grand River Avenue.
The former Acupuncture Medical Clinic at 1025 E. Grand River Ave. will become an LOC Credit Union.
According to the site plan, the development is presented by Corrigan Construction, the property owner and is in conjunction with a proposed commercial development that will include a second commercial building at the site.
The credit union is expected to be 3,090 square feet and include three drive-thru banking lanes. According to the plan, access to the branch will be on the west side of the proposed entrance street.
The new street aligns with Kissane Street on the other side of Grand River. Placement of the new street directly across from Kissane Street will be beneficial for traffic safety, according to officials.
The location in Brighton will be the credit union's third in Livingston County; it currently has branches in Howell and Hartland. The credit union also has two branches in Dearborn and one in Farmington.
According to its website, LOC Credit Union is a combination of two credit unions that merged in 2022: LOC Federal Credit Union and MemberFocus Community Credit Union. Both institutions were founded to serve employees of the school districts in the communities in which they were located.
LOC serves 33,000 members and has approximately $465 million in assets.
