Plans move forward for a proposed Panda Express restaurant in Oshkosh | Streetwise
OSHKOSH – A popular American Chinese restaurant is aiming to leave a pawprint in Oshkosh.
The city's Plan Commission on Tuesday approved a specific implementation plan for a Panda Express at 580 S. Koeller St., the former site of Golden Corral.
Plans call for a 2,500-square-foot freestanding Panda Express with two drive-thru lanes. It would be the first phase of a two-phase project on the site. The second phase would be another drive-thru establishment for a company that has not yet been identified.
Henry Klover of Kansas-based Klover Architects is the architect on the project. He said at Tuesday's meeting that he has a lot of experience with the franchise.
"Panda is an excellent company to work with," he said. "I've worked with them for a very long time. They're very cooperative."
The SIP is the second step in the approval process; the city council approved a conceptual plan in January. The council also will need to approve this plan at a future meeting.
The popular Chinese-style restaurant currently has 23 locations in Wisconsin, including three in Appleton and one in Fond du Lac.
