Plans unveiled for a Chase Bank branch at Crossings at Golden Link

The site where Golden Corral once was situated at the Crossings at Golden Link could be occupied again in a few months by Chase Bank.

The planning commission discussed a site plan and architectural elevations Feb. 13 for the bank, which wants to build a branch at that location. Although revised elevations were presented, updated plans must be submitted before the project is discussed again March 20. The city’s architectural consultant also must provide input.

The site off Route 82 is 2.21 acres, and a 2,381-square-foot Panda Express is being erected on the eastern half. It is in the Northfield Center Township’s portion of the Macedonia-NFC Joint Economic Development District and is zoned C-4 commercial.

Chase plans to erect a 3,333-square-foot building with drive-thru capabilities. The plan proposes a 25-foot drive aisle between parking rows and 37 parking spaces, but city planner Brian Frantz said only 14 spaces are required by the zoning code.

Frantz advised the planning panel not to grant preliminary plan approval yet because “there are too many needed adjustments based on the city’s code requirements and development criteria for the Crossings shopping center.”

Site plans approved for Chipotle, signs for several businesses, also approved

Planning panelists approved a final site plan for a drive-thru lane and pickup window on the south side of the Chipotle restaurant on the eastern edge of the Crossings shopping center.

Revised plans reflect a 12-foot wide one-way drive aisle along the eastern side of the site, exiting from the drive-thru lane. “That aisle is acceptable as proposed,” said Frantz.

One stipulation is that the lighted brick pillar/aluminum fencing be extended from Chic-fil-A along Chipotle’s Route 8 frontage. The adjacent Optima Dermatology site also must continue the fencing along its frontage and along the access road to Route 8.

Frantz said some minor remaining items with the site plan can be addressed administratively for compliance.

Signage at Cleveland Clinic on Alexandria Way and Stuff N Puffs and Taco Bell, both on East Aurora Road, was approved.

The Cleveland Clinic will replace the existing Maguire Medical sign on its building in the Alexandria Square retail complex with a 9-square-foot sign, plus will install a 2-square-foot window sign on the front of the building.

Stuff N Puffs will replace its existing cabinet wall sign with a 54-square-foot individual channel letter sign, the size and colors of which Frantz said comply with the zoning code.

Taco Bell plans to change its wall and site instructional signage in a rebranding effort. Two wall signs on the south and east elevations will be replaced, and a third will be added to the west (drive-thru) elevation. Total area is 60 square feet.

Taco Bell’s associated cove lighting treatment was sent to the city’s architectural consultant for review regarding consistency with the Town Center architectural standards.
