Plastic pipe containing thousands of fentanyl pills discovered at Kansas workplace

Thousands of fentanyl pills were confiscated by Kansas authorities after they were discovered inside plastic pipe in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were informed that someone had found a PVC full of blue pills at their workplace Friday, a news release from the sheriff’s office said.

The detectives took the PVC pipe that contained the pills and later determined they were fentanyl made to look oxycodone pills, the release said.

Investigators counted 5,354 fentanyl pills. The street value of the seizure is estimated to be over $300,000, according to the release.

Detectives are continuing to investigate where the pills came from.

Montgomery County has just over 31,000 residents, the U.S. Census Bureau website said.

Montgomery Sheriff Ron Wade commended the seizure of the pills in a social media post.

“We took possession of 5,354 fentanyl pills,” Wade said. “Which potentially could have killed almost 18% of our population in Montgomery County if it had ended up in the wrong hands.”
