Developed by Veteran Hub in collaboration with the creative agency Patsany Agency, the platform aims to be useful not only to soldiers who have suffered injuries but also to all military personnel and their partners, recognizing that changes in sex and intimacy during and after war are normal.

Sex and sexuality remain taboo topics in Ukraine, especially when it comes to soldiers who have experienced physical trauma or face psychological consequences from their involvement in combat operations. According to the Ministry of Health, since the beginning of the large-scale invasion, 2,041 military personnel have been recognized as disabled individuals, undergoing a path of transformation.

Furthermore, military medics and psychologists report that over 30% of returning soldiers encounter changes in their sexual lives. As veterans and their partners strive for reintegration, they face a range of important challenges, including not only physical and psychological recovery but also the reestablishment of close and intimate relationships with their partners. These relationships are a crucial component of a successful transition to civilian life.

The primary resource is the guide titled “Embrace Yourself,” which provides answers to common questions regarding body acceptance after combat injuries or changes in libido due to treatment and intimacy with partners. Additionally, the guide offers advice on how to restore and enhance intimate relationships with their partners. The guide is available in two versions, tailored for male soldiers and female soldiers.

The platform also features informative articles on various topics, such as changes in the body and discussing injuries with partners, the impact of trauma and combat experiences on relationships, and how to restore and diversify the sexual experience under new circumstances.

Furthermore, the project team invites users to explore the research study “Sexuality and Intimacy of Soldiers with Injuries,” which identifies key barriers to returning to sexual life and highlights positive experiences of overcoming these barriers.

The launch of the Resex platform is accompanied by a communication campaign called “Embrace Yourself.” Its creative content, including videos and posters, addresses the topic of sexual life among soldiers with injuries and promotes positive narratives about returning to relationships during the transition to civilian life.
