Friday, Saturday and June 2, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, 1 Museum Drive in Blount Cultural Park. In connection with the Spotlight Series: Yvonne Wells exhibition, the MMFA will host the Central Alabama Alliance Resource & Advocacy Center’s (CAARAC) Change the Pattern in Alabama quilting project in its studios. This free project includes instruction on memorial quilt panel construction, applique techniques, and a sewing circle to raise awareness and fight the stigma surrounding the HIV/AIDS epidemic within communities of color. Participants are invited to work on submitted names or bring their friends’ and/or family members’ names to be remembered on a memorial quilt panel. No quilting experience is required for this free event. mmfa.org

Truck, Car and ATV’s meet at Rancho El Paraiso

It’s part vehicle spectacle, part huge concert and all fun Saturday, May 27, at Rancho El Paraiso in Montgomery. From 2 to 8 p.m., they’re having a Truck, Car and ATV’s meet at the ranch, 890 Snowdoun Chambers Road. Those that register their vehicles for the contest have a shot at $5,000 in prizes. The Outpouring

Sunday, May 28, 5 p.m. at Riverfront Park, 335 Commerce St., Montgomery. It’s a free, family oriented event that focuses on building a stronger community through prayer and music.  The community will be led in prayer for government, schools, nonviolence, financial growth, respect, community, business, families, youth, and racial harmony. Numerous artistic expressions will be presented, including singing, dancing, art, dramatization, and poetry. There will be local community organizations and food trucks available for your enjoyment. In the evening's finale, worship leaders from all over the city will lead the audience in worship.

Montgomery Zoo open on Memorial Day

Pick, press, paint: Colors of the Garden Workshop with Tara Satorius

Saturday, June 3, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, 1 Museum Drive in Blount Cultural Park. In this free all-ages event, explore the power of flowers to create art. Participants will collect flowers from the museum garden to create an original work of art on paper, and then add finishing touches using natural inks. Learn about the science of natural pigments, how to grow your own dye plants, and celebrate the beauty of nature with friends and family. All ages are welcome to this community workshop. Saturday, June 3, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, 1 Museum Drive in Blount Cultural Park. This is a free class designed for teens and adults.  Learn how to make creative floral arrangements with Ward Chesser, a professional florist designer. He will share tips on how to create beautiful bouquets using stem flowers and greenery from your yard. Each participant will leave with a unique and display-worth floral arrangement. Cabaret at ASF

July 6-Aug. 6 on Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s Festival Stage.
