EVENTSThe AIDS Memorial Quilting Project at MMFA

Friday, 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, 1 Museum Drive in Blount Cultural Park. In connection with the Spotlight Series: Yvonne Wells exhibition, the MMFA will host the Central Alabama Alliance Resource & Advocacy Center’s (CAARAC) Change the Pattern in Alabama quilting project in its studios. This free project includes instruction on memorial quilt panel construction, applique techniques, and a sewing circle to raise awareness and fight the stigma surrounding the HIV/AIDS epidemic within communities of color. Participants are invited to work on submitted names or bring their friends’ and/or family members’ names to be remembered on a memorial quilt panel. Central Alabama’s beloved Montgomery Greek Festival is back

Want to experience Greece, but don’t have time for the flight? Come to the Montgomery Greek Festival on Friday and Saturday, and leave your suitcases behind. Come enjoy your favorite homemade Greek goodies, music, dancing and atmosphere as you make your way around the beautiful grounds - experiencing the beauty of the Greek culture. You’ll pick up the scent of delicious Greek dishes as your palate is tempted by heavenly Greek pastries. We will feature traditional Greek dishes like gyros, spanakopita, and baklava. Outside, your children can participate in various games, activities and crafts in the Kid’s Area. We will also feature traditional Greek dancing performed by students of Montgomery Ballet’s Rania Charalambidou. Everyone is invited to join in this exciting pastime. Be sure to take a guided tour of the Byzantine style sanctuary to see the beautiful iconography and learn more about the Orthodox faith! Father Paul Lundberg will offer church tours throughout the day for anyone interested in learning more of our rich religious traditions. The festival is held at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Cinematic

Symphony Q Academy of Dance presents CINEMATIC on Saturday, June 3, at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival Garden, 1 Festival Drive, Montgomery. Academy students and company dancers will perform Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop and more to songs from some iconic motion pictures. This annual dance show is a fun family oriented atmosphere in the ASF Garden. Food trucks will be available. Pick, press, paint: Colors of the Garden Workshop with Tara Satorius

Saturday, June 3, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, 1 Museum Drive in Blount Cultural Park. In this free all-ages event, explore the power of flowers to create art. Participants will collect flowers from the museum garden to create an original work of art on paper, and then add finishing touches using natural inks. Cabaret at ASF
