Which players have committed to Texas Tech football's 2023 recruiting class?
Before head coach Joey McGuire's arrival in October, Texas Tech had zero commits in its 2023 recruiting class.
Now, the Red Raiders have 22, the most of any Power 5 Conference team. Tech's 2023 class is ranked eighth in the nation by 247Sports and second in the Big 12 Conference, behind only Texas.
More will come, but here's a look at all 22 members of the Red Raiders' 2023 recruiting class so far:
Isaiah Crawford, DE, Post, Texas
Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 220 pounds out of Post High School, Crawford is a four-star and Tech’s highest-rated recruit in the 2023 class, holding a 0.9331 composite rating from 247Sports. Crawford is the No. 20 ranked player in the state of Texas and chose the Red Raiders over offers from Big 12 Conference foes Baylor and Oklahoma State.
Crawford recorded five sacks and 16 tackles for loss for Post last season. He committed to the Red Raiders on November 14, 2021.
Brenden Jordan, S, Mansfield, Texas
Jordan is a 6-foot, 185-pound four-star recruit from Mansfield High School. He is ranked as the No. 15 safety in the nation by 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Jordan received 11 offers from the likes of USC, Arizona, Ole Miss and Arkansas. Jordan committed to Tech on February 13.
Anquan Willis, ATH, Wichita Falls, Texas
Willis is Tech’s highest-rated three-star recruit, holding a 0.8898 composite rating from 247Sports. Listed as an athlete, he plays linebacker, defensive end and running back for Rider High School, with the latter being his main position. Willis held four Division I offers and committed to the Red Raiders on January 31, with TCU being his only other Power 5 offer.
Last season, Willis rushed for 1,666 yards and 26 touchdowns, earning Texas District 3-5A D-II Offensive MVP honors. He was also selected to Texas Sports Writers Association’s 5A All-State team on both offense and defense.

Tyrone West, WR, Humble, Texas
West is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound three-star recruit out of Humble High School and is compositely ranked as the No. 55 receiver in the country by 247Sports. He received five Division I offers, with Utah being his only other Power 5 offer.
Last season, West was a Texas District 21-6A first-team selection. He committed to Tech on January 31.
Jake Strong, QB, Justin, Texas
So far, Strong is the only quarterback in Tech’s 2023 class. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 200 pounds out of Northwest High School, he’s a three-star recruit and compositely ranked as the No. 27 quarterback in the nation.
Last season, Strong was named Texas District 3-5A Division I Overall MVP. He had 11 offers, with Indiana being his only other Power 5 offer. Strong committed to the Red Raiders on January 22.

Jmaury Davis, ATH, Clarendon, Texas
Davis is a 6-foot-2, 219-pound three-star recruit out of Clarendon High School. Primarily placed at running back for Clarendon, he also plays linebacker.
Last season, Davis was named Texas District 4-2A D-II Defensive MVP and was a first-team all-district selection at running back. He received five Division I offers, including from Kentucky and Purdue, and committed to Tech on February 21.
Daniel Sill, OT, College Station, Texas
Sill, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound three-star recruit out of A&M Consolidated High School, is Tech’s highest-rated offensive lineman in its 2023 class, holding a 0.8767 composite rating for 247 Sports. He is compositely ranked as the No. 44 offensive tackle in Texas.
The Red Raiders gave him his only Division I offer, and he committed on December 12, 2021.
Kaden Carr, OT, Lubbock-Cooper, Texas
Carr is a 6-foot-5, 300-pound three-star recruit who previously played at Amarillo High School. He has played both tackle and guard and is compositely ranked as the No. 45 interior lineman in the nation by 247Sports.
Carr’s brother, Tyler, played tight end for the Red Raiders from 2017-2019. This fall will be his first season at Lubbock-Cooper after playing at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida and Amarillo High School. He committed to Tech on November 15, 2021, over offers from Oregon, TCU and Arizona State.
Chapman Lewis, S, Burleson, Texas
Lewis is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound three-star recruit out of Centennial High School. He is compositely ranked as the nation’s No. 53 safety by 247Sports. Tech was Lewis’ only Division I offer, and he committed on January 24.

Last season, he averaged more than 11 tackles per game and intercepted two passes. In 2020, he was a Texas District 4-5A D-I first-team selection as a sophomore.
Jayden Cofield, DL, Manor, Texas
Cofield is a 6-foot-3, 325-pound three-star recruit out of Manor High School. He received 13 Division I offers, including from Big 12 teams Baylor, Kansas and TCU. Cofield committed to tech on April 23.
Last season, Cofield recorded 19 tackles for loss, five sacks and four forced fumbles. He’s been an all-district selection twice and won Texas District 11-5A D-I Defensive Newcomer of the Year in 2021.
Demarion Crest-Daniels, WR, El Paso, Texas
Crest-Daniels is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound three-star recruit out of Parkland High School. He received just two Division I offers, with his other being from New Mexico State. Crest-Daniels committed to Tech on April 25.
Last season, he caught 46 passes for 848 yards and 11 touchdowns. Crest-Daniels won Texas District 1-5A D-II Offensive Newcomer of the Year in 2020 and was an first-team all-district selection in 2021.
Amier Washington, DL, Orange, Texas
Washington is a 6-foot-3, 245-pound three-star recruit out of Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School. He received just two Division I offers, the other being from Baylor. Washington committed to Tech on April 2.
Last season, he was a Texas District 10-4A D-I first-team selection. In 2020, Washington was named Texas District 10-4A D-I Defensive Newcomer of the Year.
Marcus Ramon-Edwards, ATH, Lubbock, Texas
Ramon-Edwards is one of two Lubbock recruits in Tech’s 2023 class so far. Officially listed as an athlete, the three-star primarily plays running back for Trinity Christian School.
Ramon-Edwards is compositely ranked as the No. 80 athlete in the nation by 247Sports. Texas Tech was his only Division I offer, and he committed to the Red Raiders on February 14.
Chris Palfreeman, WR, Fort Worth, Texas
Palfreeman is a 5-foot-10, 160-pound three-star recruit out of All Saints Episcopal School. He received 10 Division I offers from schools like Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Baylor.
In 2020, Palfreeman was a first-team all-district selection as a running back. He committed to Tech on April 13.
John Curry, LB, Lubbock, Texas
Curry is a 6-foot-3, 195-pound three-star recruit out of Coronado High School. He is compositely ranked as the No. 81 linebacker in the country by 247Sports.
Last season, Curry recorded 102 tackles, three sacks and three interceptions. Texas Tech was his only Division I offer, and he committed to the Red Raiders on November 29, 2021.

Kaleb Smith, WR, Frisco, Texas
Smith is a 6-foot, 175-pound three-star recruit out of Reedy High School. Last season, he caught 35 passes for 475 yards and six touchdowns, adding one rushing touchdown.
Texas Tech was Smith’s only Division I offer. He committed to the Red Raiders on February 2.
Dylan Shaw, IOL, Corpus Christi, Texas
Shaw is a 6-foot-4, 300-pound recruit out of Flour Bluff High School. He has yet to receive a star rating from any verified outlet.
Shaw can play multiple positions on the offensive line and was a Texas District 15-5A-I first-team selection at OT last season. He received three Division I offers, with UTSA being his only other FBS offer. Shaw committed to Tech on April 23.
Miquel Dingle, LB, Duncan, South Carolina
Dingle is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound three-star recruit out of Byrnes High School. He is one of two commits in Tech's 2023 recruiting class from outside of Texas.
Last season, Dingle recorded 38 tackles and one sack. He also runs track, winning the South Carolina 5A state title in the 110-meter hurdles back in May. He had just one other Power Five offer from Charlotte, and committed to the Red Raiders on June 21.
Macho Stevenson, ATH, Shreveport, Louisiana
Stevenson is a 6-foot-2, 170-pound three-star recruit out of Captain Shreve High School. He plays wide receiver and cornerback, with the Red Raiders recruiting him to play the latter position.
Stevenson made the Louisiana District 1-5A All-District second-team after catching nine passes for 262 yards and five touchdowns. Stevenson chose the Red Raiders over five other offers, including from Indiana and Mississippi State. He committed to Tech on June 27.
Nick Fattig, OT, League City Clear Springs
Fattig was named first-team all-District 24-6A and first-team all-Galveston County last season as a junior for a 7-5 team. Clear Springs lost in the second round of the Class 6A Division I playoffs to eventual state champion Galena Park North Shore.
Among his 14 scholarship offers are ones from five Ivy League schools and three service academies. He'd fielded others from Louisiana-Lafayette, Nevada-Las Vegas, North Texas, Northwestern State, Tulane and UT-San Antonio.
Kelby Valsin, WR, Arlington Bowie
Last season, Valsin made 49 catches for 831 yards and eight touchdowns en route to earning first team all-district wideout honors. He also garnered District 8-6A first-team all district accolades in basketball.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound three-star athlete had 24 scholarship offers, according to 247Sports.
He chose Texas Tech over Washington, TCU, Stanford and Boston College among other reported schools. Kelby Valsin’s brother, Jimmy, plays for Oregon State — signing as part of its 2021 class.
On June 28, Woodville defensive tackle Braylon Rigsby, the defensive lineman of the year in District 10-3A Division I last season, made an oral commitment to the Red Raiders.
