Pleasant View judge delivered a two-hour online class

On Sept. 6, Pleasant View City Court Judge Gregory D. Smith taught a two hour online class on the evidence Hearsay Rule.  This class, offered exclusive to judges, was presented by the National Judicial College, located at the University of Nevada at Reno.

Over 200 judges from all levels of state, federal, military, and tribal courts log on to attend the class.  Judges from all everty  region of the United States, and judges from Nigeria, Romania, Jamaica, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Guam heard Judge Smith discuss the Hearsay Rule and exception to the rule.

The class offered educational credits for the Tennessee judges attending through the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and the Tennessee Administrative Office of Courts.

Judge Smith said he was "humbled and honered to have the National Judicial College entrust him to teach this class."

Judge Smith, the sole presenter for this class, has been the part-time municipal judge for Pleasant View since 1997.  He has a private law practice in Clarksville, Tennessee.
