Co-headlining band cancels 10 hours before Ford Idaho Center concert

The coronavirus has upended another concert in the Boise area.

Danish metal band Volbeat, which is co-headlining a tour with Swedish headbangers Ghost, has canceled its performance at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa set for tonight — Friday, Jan. 28.

The Ghost concert will still happen, including opening act Twin Temple. But Volbeat won’t take the stage. Drummer Jon Larsen tested positive for COVID-19, according to a statement from the group.

Volbeat broke the news on social media at 9:30 a.m. The concert is at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

“Unfortunately, this morning, Jon tested positive for COVID, so we will have to cancel our appearance tonight ... Jon is asymptomatic and feeling fine, so we’re hopeful he will be back behind the kit soon. ...

“Boise, we hope to be back soon. Please stay safe in the meantime!”

Refunds are available by emailing info.fordidahocenter@spectraxp.com with the order number, according to the Idaho Center’s Facebook page, or by calling (208) 442-3232. Refunds need to be requested before entering the venue.

COVID-19 requirements for fans remain in place for the Ghost and Temple event. Details are on the Ford Idaho Center’s website.
