A passage from a letter of Pliny the Younger (Gaius Plinius Caecilius Secundus) to the historian Tacitus (Publius Cornelius Tacitus):

“Librum tuum legi et, quam diligentissime potui, adnotavi quae commutanda, quae eximenda arbitrarer.”

“I have read your book and I have noted the passages which should be changed or removed as carefully as I was able.”

This is how it’s done.

This is how it has always been done.
