Plumbing work causes apartment fire in Huber Heights

Firefighters responded to a multi-unit apartment building fire in Huber Heights Saturday.

Firefighters responded to the 8200 block of Mt. Carmel Street around 2:00 p.m.

Fire crews from Dayton, Vandalia, Butler Township, and Bethel Township Fire Departments provided aid to help battle the fire and evacuate others living in the building.

Initial calls to dispatch reported that someone was working on the plumbing, and a fire started due to sweating pipes.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, heavy smoke was seen coming out of one of the apartments. The fire spread to the attic and down through the wall.

The fire was ruled accidental.
