Plummer man dies in crash at Tekoa

Sep. 6—TEKOA — A 69-year-old Plummer, Idaho, man died from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle crash here Monday evening.

Whitman County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to Poplar Street in Tekoa after a report of a collision. They discovered Bruce Spencer, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release.

Based on initial information, officers believe the driver was traveling east at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle. He collided with a guardrail and rolled the car several times, according to the news release.

The man was driving alone and was not wearing a seat belt. He was ejected from the vehicle, according to the news release.

Witnesses in the area told deputies the driver may have been racing a motorcycle or could have been involved in a road-rage incident. Investigators are reviewing the case but have confirmed the speed was a contributing factor, according to the news release.
