PODCAST: Tron virtual queue announced, Chester the gator RIP, and ICON Park’s Wheel still closed (Ep. 176)

Orlando Sentinel tourism reporters Dewayne Bevil and Katie Rice tackle Tron Lightcycle details, a Gatorland goodbye and the power outage at ICON Park in this episode of Theme Park Rangers podcast. The new Tron ride at Magic Kingdom will use a virtual queue when it opens on April 4. “It’s great until you don’t get a spot and this is your only day in town. That, to me, is the big drawback of virtual lines,” Dewayne explains. Meanwhile, Katie offers condolences to Chester, one of Gatorland’s largest alligators and one with a reputation for grumpiness and an appetite for dogs. “Rest in Peace, Chester, in the great swamp in the sky.” And the Wheel at ICON Park remains closed after a New Year’s Eve power outage prompted firefighters to evacuate more than 60 riders.
