Poetry in motion: Tuscaloosa County students compete in rhythmic gymnastics event

Sipsey Valley Middle School in Buhl played host to the Tuscaloosa Rhythmic Gymnastics competition on Feb. 9. The competition featured more than 40 students from the Tuscaloosa County School System. The top finishers in each event qualified for the Alabama Special Olympic Games, which will be held in May in Troy. Rhythmic gymnastics is a form of gymnastics that emphasizes dance-like routines accentuated by the use of a ribbon, a hoop, a ball or other items.
