The Pokémon Company has officially announced its venue for 2024’s Pokémon World Championships, as well as its donation plans to help victims of the ongoing wildfires in Maui, Hawaii.

Venue announcement: In a video announcement posted on Sunday, the company shared that next year’s World Championships will take place in Honolulu.

The Pokémon Company recently wrapped up this year’s Pokémon World Championships in Yokohama, Japan, which started on Friday and ended on Sunday at the Pacifico Yokohama convention center.

The invite-only esports event saw several participants competing to find out who’s the very best in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, “Pokémon Scarlet and Violet,” “Pokémon Go” and “Pokémon Unite.”

Other announcement: In a recent tweet, The Pokémon Company shared that it is planning to donate $200,000 to its partner GlobalGiving through its Hawaii Wildfire Relief Fund to help victims of the Maui wildfires, which has already taken 96 lives as of Sunday.

The wildfires that engulfed and subsequently destroyed parts of Lahaina, a historic resort in Maui, began on Tuesday. The local government issued an emergency proclamation on the same day. Dry conditions and strong winds passing through Hawaii from Hurricane Dora, a Category 4 storm, set off the blaze.
