Pokagon’s annual Kee Boon Mein Kaa Pow Wow takes place Labor Day weekend in Dowagiac

DOWAGIAC — The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians’ 2023 Kee Boon Mein Kaa Pow Wow takes place Sept. 2 and 3 at its Rodgers Lake Campground, 58620 Sink Road.

The grounds open at 10 a.m., with the Grand Entry at 1 and 7 p.m. Sept 2 and 1 p.m. Sept. 3.

The pow wow includes a celebration of traditional Pokagon culture, including regalia, song, and dance and drum contests.

This year’s pow wow features more than 60 vendors from around the country selling a variety of items, including jewelry, dreamcatchers, clothing, artwork, pottery, regalia items, furs, photography, and more, including food.

Alaska’s Qasgirmiut Dancers will perform their style of dance. There will also be vendors selling their handcrafted artwork and foods.

Campsites will be available.

Only service animals with certificates are allowed on the pow wow grounds. Also, no campaign signage or transport of firewood to the campsite is permitted.

Admission is free.
